Kaleidoscope

I believe that the most important part of a kaleidoscope is color. Although reflection is also a key component, I chose to focus on the vibrant colors. Kaleidoscopes are all about getting different perspectives on an object, so I decided to get a different perspective on the assignment. Honestly, I had a lot of trouble coming up with an idea that I liked. For inspiration I started to play with food dye in water and photograph the patterns that the dye created. This led me to the idea to dye the photo. I also wanted to focus the photo on her eyes, since perspective is about what you see and how you see it. I ended up water coloring the paper and using transparent paper to layer the image on top. I really like how it turned out and it really fits my definition of kaleidoscope.

  3. This ROCKS. Looks like some funky-realistic street art. You could make a concentration out of this. Good use of mixed media, and portrayal of the theme. Fabulous!

  4. First of all, the girl in your photo seems like the coolest person ever. I love your use of the translucent paper over the water colored paper to make it modern and artistic.
