Make Your Mark

Fingerprints were the first thing that came to my mind when doing this project. Since everyone has a unique fingerprint, they are a good symbol of our individuality. When we leave our impression on the world, we are leaving a fingerprint behind. I wanted to capture how everyone's "mark" on the world is different, just like our fingerprints.

Kaleidoscope

I believe that the most important part of a kaleidoscope is color. Although reflection is also a key component, I chose to focus on the vibrant colors. Kaleidoscopes are all about getting different perspectives on an object, so I decided to get a different perspective on the assignment. Honestly, I had a lot of trouble coming up with an idea that I liked. For inspiration I started to play with food dye in water and photograph the patterns that the dye created. This led me to the idea to dye the photo. I also wanted to focus the photo on her eyes, since perspective is about what you see and how you see it. I ended up water coloring the paper and using transparent paper to layer the image on top. I really like how it turned out and it really fits my definition of kaleidoscope.
